The
Society of Archivists is the recognised
professional body in Great Britain and Ireland for archivists, records
managers and archive conservators. The Society of Archivists,
Ireland -- a constituent region of the larger
society -- is committed to working to achieve
high standards in the management and care
of records and archives and the continued
professional development of its members.

Records Management
Group, Ireland, a sub-group of The Society
of Archivists, Ireland, exists to further discussion,
co-operation and record keeping training
amongst the records management profession
in Ireland.

The
Irish Society for Archives exists to promote
the place of archives in Irish society.
It publishes Irish Archives annually, a
bi-annual newsletter and organises lectures
on topics of interest and concern to archivists,
the users of archives and the wider public.
The ISA now also has a website, kindly hosted
by the Archives Department, UCD.

The Archives Department
of University College Dublin is at present
the only provider of professional training in
Archival Science, which covers both archives and records
management, in
Ireland.
