of Ireland. Collections relating to family
history and genealogy; women's history; government
papers; archives of the Ordnance Survey of
Ireland; Business Records Survey; transportation

NATIONAL LIBRARY
OF IRELAND
Collections comprise books, manuscripts, maps,
photographs, newspapers and genealogical material
amounting to some six millior items. Also
provides genealogy service for those researching

NATIONAL PHOTOGRAPHIC
ARCHIVE
Houses the photographic collection of the
National Library of Ireland, approximately
300,000 photographs. Particularly good collection
of events during 1916, the War of Independence
and the Civil War as well as other political
and social events in Irish history. Website
NATIONAL UNIVERSITY
OF IRELAND
Collections in the Russell Library include
120 volumes of Irish manuscripts copied for
or collected c.1820 by Dr John Murphy, Bishop
of Cork (1771-1847) comprising romances, religious
and secular poetry, sermons, translations
of devotional works, lives of the saints and
genealogies. Website

LIBRARY
The Boole Library Archives Service supports
University College Cork's research and teaching
programmes by providing access to archival
collections and facilities which have been
developed to satisfy the research and information
needs of the Library's users. Access to collections
is however open to all researchers and is
not restricted to staff and students of UCC.

- 1960. Records relating to individual academic
departments from 1925. Minute books of college
committees and of student clubs and societies.

HARDIMAN LIBRARY
Collections include Minute books of Galway
Corporation, Galway Town Commissioners 15th
- 19th century, The Hyde MSS bequeathed by
Douglas Hyde containing volumes of prose,
poetry and various tracts penned by scribes
in the 18th century as well as miscellaneous
manuscripts by Hyde. The Richie-Pickow collection
of over 5,ooo photographs and some traditional
music gathered in Ireland 1952-53. Website
PUBLIC RECORD
OFFICE OF NORTHERN IRELAND(PRONI)
Repository for public records in Northern
Ireland. Collections are divided into government
department records; non-departmental records
(courts of law, local authorities and other
public bodies); and private records (deposited
by individuals, by churches, local businesses
and institutions). Website
QUEEN'S UNIVERSITY
MAIN LIBRARY
Collections include musical manuscripts collected
and compiled by Edward Bunting 1792 - 1943.
Literary manuscripts of Arthur O'Shaughnessy,
Violet Martin and Helen Waddell. Scientific
papers and correpondence of Thomas Andrews(1828
-76) and archives of the university going
back to the middle of the 19th century. Website
