LOUTH LOCAL
AUTHORITIES ARCHIVES SERVICE
Louth Local Authorities Archives Service
was recently founded in 2000 as a result
of the passing of the Local Government Act,
1994, and is still in the process of being
established. It is a repository for the
public archives of County Louth. This means
it holds and seeks the acquisition of archives
of Louth Local Authorities and their predecessor
bodies. It is hoped that in the future,
as time and resources permit, private collections,
such as those of literary figures and businesses
will also be acquired. The surviving archives
are of high quality such as those of Ardee
Town Commissioners dating back to 1677. Website
